Media Industries and Policies

NeFCA’s Media Industries and Policies division provides a platform for Dutch and Flemish communication scholars working in the broad field of media industries and media policy research, communication policies and issues of media production and distribution.

The Media Industries and Policies division welcomes empirical, interdisciplinary, and comparative research that is of theoretical as well as practical relevance. It organizes activities such as workshops and debates on current topics. Additionally, the yearly Etmaal provides the opportunity to present papers in the sessions that are organized within the division.

The division has a steering committee of two people: Erik Hitters (EUR) and Tom Evens (UGent).

Events:
2015 (March): Symposium Surveillance, Big Data and Digital Rights

2015 (October 20th): Special guest lecture: "Changing media, changing business models?", Deuze and Van Zanten, Gent.

2017 (11-12 May): the Annual Conference of the European Media Management Association (emma) organized by Ghent University and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Theme “Value Creation in Media Markets: Business Models, Clusters and Ecosystems.”
