Dear fellow academics from the Flemish and Dutch community,

The NeFCA Political Communication division is organizing a Master Class for PhD-Students and post-docs with Natalie Stroud (University of Texas at Austin) on media use and effects in a changing media landscape.

Natalie (Talia) Stroud
Natalie Stroud (Ph.D., Annenberg School for Communication) is Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Assistant Director of Research at the University of Texas at Austin. Stroud is interested in how the media affect political behaviors and attitudes and how political behaviors and attitudes affect media use. Her book, Niche News: The Politics of News Choice (Oxford University Press) explores the causes, consequences, and prevalence of partisan selective exposure.

We would like to invite PhD-students and postdocs to submit a focused one to two page proposal explaining a research question, theoretical framework, case, data collection strategy, and/or method to Sanne Kruikemeier or Ruud Wouters. The proposal includes a specific question about feedback you would be most interested in. Proposal submission deadline is April 7th at 13:00 the latest. Participants are informed by April 10th whether their submission is accepted.

More detailed information can be found in the attached invitation. In the afternoon, there will be a lecture by Natalie Stroud. Invited participants are welcome to attend this lecture. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
